Baby Steps

So as you may or may not be able to tell from the introduction to this post, and the lack of a post yesterday, I am not making clear and present progress. Here is what happened yesterday:

The fridge, stove and dishwasher arrived. Therefore the fridge was unpacked...

I have also been working on the shelves for what feels like an eternity. I brushed it off as a small kitchen task, but it is more like a full furniture project.

This may look like a preliminary fitting, but I think it's actually the second fitting, among others. See that square on the floor? We don't need that. These shelves are pure custom. I started with square shelves and turned them into parallelograms, deliberately.

Each shelf is fit to the curve of the fireplace at its own height.

You can see here that shelves 1# and 3# (from the top) don't really fit. The square is still sitting there, unused.

I think tomorrow we are in business. I'm hoping to have these shelves properly installed. There, I said it.
