Another rainy day.
I'm just going to start with the fact that I found out today the table saw is going to be sold on Wednesday morning. Don't worry though because I still have the shop until Thursday...this week. Seriously. Can it be done? I'm still hoping it can (not the whole kitchen, duh, but the stuff that requires a shop), but let's be honest, four days is not a lot of time at my pace. I'm still not done the countertops. They are so close, but I just find it hard to work when all my roomies are having beer and steaks, you know?
This morning I fit the template for the chimney.
I have yet to bring the counters back to the house, so I'm not sure how they fit. Oh well. Too late now. I guess I'll just fill any holes with glue and sawdust.
Here's how the solid surface looks when it's getting glued up:
This stuff is amazing. You can't see the seam at all. Steph even said she was amazed when she saw it, even after I told her she wouldn't be able to see the seam. I believe her exact words were "I believed you, but I didn't really believe you".
In other news, I finally cut something too short today! Isn't that what everyone secretly loves to hear about on a construction blog (like wipe-outs in the Tour de France)? I cut the WHOLE counter short by 1 3/4" !! This is because my template was referenced against the chimney and then I just made a note to add an inch here and there, but I accidentally ignored my own instructions. And guess what that means when working with solid surface?
Now you see it...
Here is the one thing I accomplished start-to-finish today:
See that sexy backsplash? I opted for a short behind-the-sink-only backsplash. I don't like the full counter backsplash. One day, white tiles will surround it, but who can think about tiles when I have FOUR DAYS to do WAY more than four days of work?
